After a bit over a year of anticipation, Nouveau Palais (Prison Garde, Lunice & Ango) will be premiering their work this Thursday at Mutek after releasing their Avant Gang EP this Tuesday on Red Bull Music Academy.
Prison Garde is also coming back from Vancouver tonight after a few years in exile. Montreal is going to be sweaty this summer.
Montreal’s own Jacques Greene launched yesterday his own label, Vase, after a successful 18 months of touring across Europe and North America and releasing critically-acclaimed albums on Night Slugs and LuckyMe.
Concealer — the label’s first release — will come out January 30th, featuring four new tracks from the UK-influenced producer with collaborations from Koreless and fellow Montrealer Ango. BBC radio host Annie Mac already previewed Flatline — with Ango on R’n'B/garage duties — today on her show, which is available for streaming until next week.
While I am not one to usually praise a record ahead of its release, from what I’ve been given the privilege to hear, it’s a pretty solid piece of work.
Fall colours in Montreal.
Red, orange and green before getting blue, white and dark.
Boogat had a busy year with a critically-acclaimed EP, some great nights with Nuvo Tumbao and a few shows overseas. A full-length album should follow next fall if everything goes well.
Such a beautiful design and so much inspiration put together for ISAM, the upcoming album from Montreal-based avant-garde/drum and bass/trip hop artist Amon Tobin. Once again, I hate Ninja Tune for releasing a beautiful piece of art that I cannot afford.
At least Tobin will be presenting his new audio-visual performance at Mutek this year.
